MDPE.20:4.3 - Short video: discovery aid, selection pressure, or measurement artifact
A dance school sees short camera-facing clips gaining views while its partner-response and long-form improvisation material appears less often in classes. It considers increasing short-form production.
The project compares trajectories in which clips merely aid discovery, clips select front-facing and quickly legible movement, teachers counterbalance the medium through uncued partner Work, different populations split between media-facing and social practice, or the observed change is a measurement artifact caused by comparing views with actual enactment.
Distinguishing observations can concern class and social-floor use, partner recognition, curriculum, continued enactment or differences between exposed and unexposed settings. Select such observation only when worthwhile and obtainable. MDPE.22 can address an actual support-environment change and MDPE.14 a split-use response. A qualified present forecast and bounded production decision may be complete on the available basis; unperformed changes supply no observations or cultural-effect evidence.
