MDPE.22:0.1 - Working Distinctions

An environment here is the selected set of surrounding Systems and relations whose change can alter the named Music-or-Dance Work or cultural relation.

Keep four results separate:

ResultWhat a practitioner can observe
environment-change WorkA named Agent performed the venue, teaching, platform, archive, funding, maintenance, access, event, or organization-change Work.
support in placeThe named provider can perform the needed Work under the current conditions; time and equipment are available; the required permission, access, retrieval, participation, financing or other specified relations hold for the intended use.
later Music-or-Dance observationRepresentative Work, recognition, transmission, selection, memory use, or continuation was observed later; no change or worsening is also a result.
causal contributionA C.28 result supports using the environment change as a cause of the later difference. Succession and before/after observation do not supply this result.

Name the actual contribution instead of treating an institution or label as the relation:

Ordinary wordRecover the practical relation
schoolteaching and correction Work, capability development, access, repertoire choice, scheduling, certification, financing, and maintenance of the teaching arrangement
venuepermission, time, space, floor or acoustic conditions, equipment, safety, access, financing, and recurring event provision
festival or eventprogramming, performer invitation, rehearsal, presentation, recognition, selection, documentation, financing, and later opportunities
platforminterface and publication Work, discovery, ticketing, recommendation, payment, financing, moderation, performer adaptation, recruitment, and recurring event provision
archivesource preservation, description, access, permission, consent, community custody, retrieval, representation limits, embodied knowledge, comparison, and return to a current decision
scene or communityan observed practitioner population and its recurring teaching, organizing, maintenance, participation, memory, recognition, selection, and continuation relations

A school, platform, festival, camera, algorithm, or archive does not automatically constitute a cultural level. It can participate in several arrangements at once. Treat scene, ecology, and niche as useful reader words only after naming the Systems and relations relevant to the project.

Use narrow Agent names—teacher, dancer, musician, organizer, curator, maintainer, archivist, developer, audience researcher—when their agency changes the decision. Use System for venues, instruments, software, archives, platforms, and other participating wholes when agency is not current. When an assignment itself changes the decision, record the A.2.1 assignment species and direct predicate, actual holder and other participants, assigned local system-role kind, and relevant extent. If performed Work attribution matters, use F.6 and name the Work-facing contribution separately. Otherwise name the direct Work, capability, authority, access, participation, or resource relation. Creating a role label or an assignment does not make the needed Work occur.
