MDPE.Preface:7.1 - Music: making and realizing musical possibilities

Use the Music profile when a musical intention must survive composition or live generation, instrumental or vocal realization, and the receiving situation. The limiting contribution may concern attack and sustained sound, phrasing, timbre, ensemble timing, a live algorithm, or a production medium. The first choice is which audible or performer-experienced distinction matters for this use and which material may vary. MDPE.1 and MDPE.9 make that choice inspectable; the selected composition, improvisation, arrangement, recording, or coding Method does the specialized work.

MDPE.10 and MDPE.3 connect the musical demand to the performer and instrument configuration. Use MDPE.11 when the performer interprets or changes material during the occurrence, and MDPE.5 when sound, projection, venue, recording, or distribution must make the result usable. The first useful result can be a performed candidate and a reason to retain or change it.
