OCE.12:0 - Use This When
An organization change needs somebody to explain its purpose, bring concerns into discussion, help people perform their roles, negotiate assistance or learn from a difficult episode. This contribution is missing or depends on one initiator. Use OCE.12 to obtain the contribution, develop any missing capability and arrange help for its next use.
Start by asking what someone needs to do differently and what help would make that possible. Choose a working conversation or another Method suited to the difficulty, and state the result it should produce. When advice conflicts with assigned work, use 4.2 to arrange the conditions that let people act on it. Use 4.3.2 when a discussion must construct a substantive result, 4.3.3 when a proposal needs preparation with trusted advisers and a workable start, and 4.4.1 when the change involves a career transition.
Leadership here is work that helps people coordinate their contributions and develop the capability to perform them. Facilitating a conversation, coaching a task and allocating work time may require different people.
Do not substitute a leadership conversation for a domain decision, clinical care or an employment action: involve the practitioner responsible and qualified for that work. If an adequate operating instruction already resolves the difficulty, follow it. Leadership help may come from a peer or mentor without managerial authority.
