OCE.14:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them

Anti-patternBetter move
“One metric worsened; redesign the whole organization.”Recover the challenged premise and the smallest revision that can answer it.
“The sponsor approved it, so every condition is satisfied.”Separate the sponsor’s scope from other authority, protection, assignment and provision results.
“The revised chart is now the organization.”Identify which decisions and relations actually took effect and which contribution remains unrealized.
“We can always roll back.”Qualify the former holder, access, obligations, support and present recovery conditions.
“Wait for full causal proof before any response.”Match evidence to the actual decision; a qualified risk or direct relation conflict may support a bounded authorized response.
“The new assignment solved service and capability.”Observe the receiving work under the changed conditions; an effective relation is not its later performance.
