OCE.17:4.1 - Recover the operative variant from real work
Choose an episode in which an OCE move should matter. Examples include bounding the changed organization, recovering an actual contribution crossing, comparing organization concepts, distinguishing appointment from authority, protecting continuing service or revising a relation after adverse consequences. Name the receiving result: what should another person have been able to do with the work?
Inspect the permitted work products and, where needed, a work observation or the practitioner’s explanation. Ask what difficulty was recognized, which distinctions changed an action, what was done, what result followed and what the recipient could use. For an OCE.2 case, “we drew the process” is not yet the answer. Recover a particular input, its supplier and user, the occasion of its use, and the evidence or decision relation that mattered.
Compare that occurrence with the relevant OCE Method and any declared local adaptation. Keep three possibilities open: the same operative move in different words; a genuinely different variant; and a familiar name with no evidence of the required move. A missing account can also be an observation gap rather than an absent practice. Ask for the smallest permitted evidence that distinguishes them.
Do not make conformity to one notation the criterion. If a short conversation and work trace make the relation recoverable, a missing chart does not defeat the result. If a polished chart cannot support the receiving decision, its presence does not supply it.
