PSD.7:4.2 - Establish workable participation and challenge conditions
Tell participants what is being asked, how their contribution will be used, how attribution and correction will work, and who will receive the return. Choose channels that permit meaningful contribution and challenge: a joint session, separate conversation, written response, accessible format, or a combination suited to the actual conditions. A workshop is not mandatory.
Make the facilitator’s remit and material interests visible. If the facilitator also owns a preferred intervention or controls participants’ opportunities, choose safeguards appropriate to that conflict, such as independent handling of a contested claim or a different facilitator. Do not describe the arrangement as neutral merely because the facilitation script is neutral.
Recover any rule governing consent, participation, confidentiality, or later decision from its actual authority. Ask whether the proposed conditions are usable, but do not treat acceptance of the discussion format as assent to its eventual findings. Where credible participation would expose someone to material harm or coercion, use an appropriately protected route, obtain competent support, narrow the claim, or stop that part of the inquiry.
