PSD.7:4.6 - Close with shared and contested claims

Read back the proposed return at the grain needed for its use. Invite correction of meaning, attribution, support, conditions, and omissions. Record a correction that arrives after the discussion if it materially changes the return; identify which dependent use must reopen.

The recipient should be able to distinguish:

  • shared understanding of a statement from support for that statement;
  • supported common claims from conditional claims, unresolved evidence, and dissent;
  • participants who responded from absent, unreachable, unrepresented, or declining participants;
  • proposed action from commitment or authorization; and
  • what the inquiry enables now from the direct result still needed.

Use A.2.9 when the live question is whether the communication enabled a named recipient to understand or do something and what smallest repair is needed. An acknowledgement or later action is not sufficient proof of understanding, consent, or causal effect. Add exact communicative-Work detail only when that stronger reliance is actually needed.

Return the common claims, material disagreements, evidence gaps, their consequences for the receiving question, and the next discriminating question or reopen condition. The account may inform alternative generation, a recommendation, or reconciliation between simultaneous inquiries. It neither chooses the matter nor requires all participants to become one collective viewpoint.
