RHY.12:4.3 - Perform, locate one changeable action, and retry
Use the HCD.9 feedback-and-retry method on the selected rhythmic action. Listen or watch for the relation itself: whether the reference continues through the phrase boundary, the release occurs before the silence, the accent preserves the continuous motion, or the response corrects the intended displacement.
Give feedback the learner can act on in the next attempt. For example, demonstrate the continuing gesture during the phrase restart instead of saying only “keep the rhythm.” If correction during performance would interrupt the target coordination, use a short attempt, feedback and another attempt.
Separate a problem in interpreting the target from a problem in performing it. The learner may reconstruct the phrase correctly yet lose it when moving, or move fluently to a different reference. Change the demonstration or action practice accordingly.
Stop or reduce the attempt when continuing would defeat the available technique, support or agreed operating limits. Fatigue, a lost sightline or unsuitable equipment may call for a changed condition rather than more repetitions.
