RHY.4:1 - Problem frame

Use this when two apparently correct timing judgements disagree, or when aligning one recorded event fails to make the performance usable. A foot contacts the floor before weight transfer is clear to a partner; a sound starts on the grid but is heard as late; a controller sends a command before the instrument produces its effect.

Start with the timing relation the activity needs. The first useful result identifies which events should be related, how their positions are known, and what correction or further observation is warranted.

In auditory research, a perceptual center, or P-center, is the perceived temporal location of a sound. A contact start, acoustic start, pressure maximum and participant’s reported arrival are different possible landmarks. The method selects among them for the task; it does not require measuring all of them.
