A visible geometric difference can be mistaken for a useful musical or movement variation. Let the intended action and performing practice choose which difference matters. Conversely, familiarity can hide useful alternatives: an arrangement excluded by one performing allocation may become feasible under another.
A construction borrowed from another tradition supplies possibilities, not permission to attribute an invented phrase to that tradition. Keep the source construction and the new application distinguishable.
