RHY.9:1 - Problem frame

Use this when a passage is individually performable but its participants cannot receive or act on the timing information they need while doing their own parts. A player’s hands may be occupied when a visible cue is needed. An audible attack may arrive too late to prepare a simultaneous entry. A cue may be clear in a demonstration and hidden from the position used in performance.

Start with the passage, its performers and the next relation that fails. Arrange the production of the rhythmic contributions and the availability of the needed cues together. The first result is a usable allocation and cue arrangement for that passage, a proposal ready for a suitable trial, or an identified missing contribution.

Use an established adequate arrangement directly. When the problem concerns the wider performing whole—its instruments, support, placement or responsibilities—MDPE.3 supplies that configuration method. Here the question is how rhythmic action and timely information can coexist within it.
