RMP.5:10 - Rationale
Analysis transforms or interprets material; an inference relates that result to a claim. Keeping those relations visible explains why a correct calculation can still support the wrong conclusion and why new criticism can improve an answer without new data.
Methods expose different errors because their questions and material differ. A universal assurance checklist would hide those relations. Conversely, treating every Method as beyond criticism would make the claim immune to examination. Method-appropriate criticism preserves both plurality and the possibility of defeat.
A result can finish at a bounded answer. Further testing becomes useful when its possible result and obtainable arrangement warrant a separate contribution, rather than because a publication must look complete.
