SOM.4:5 - Archetypal Grounding
A writer can hold a pen securely and guide a stroke, yet pauses whenever checking grip, wrist and forearm in sequence. The writer starts with a familiar short mark in which hold and guidance work together, attends to its development, and tries recalling it for another mark. Observation is distributed across attempts. A continuous mark provides a task result against which the recalled feel can be compared.
If the task instead requires a forearm-support transition and every short fixed-support mark succeeds, those marks have not prepared the missing relation. SOM.5 constructs the transition. This separates reducing task burden from removing its consequential difficulty.
In a salsa figure, the dancer and teacher select the combination needed during the turn. A bodily adjustment that interrupts stepping or the partner relation has not joined that combination, even if the dancer can reproduce its isolated sensation. Dance instruction supplies the turn and its suitable preparation.
