STR.2:6 - Bias-Annotation

A preferred direction encourages selective interpretation: favourable changes become reasons to act, while unfavourable changes become “noise”. State what result would count against the preferred direction before interpreting an ambiguous observation.

Salience also favours spectacular news over quiet loss of a prerequisite. Test the consequence of a missing capability, expiring permission or changed partner commitment even when it has no compelling headline.
