C.40.CU:2 - Problem

An unexpected success does not reveal which arrangement made it possible. The tested construct may have retained a capability, learned during the test, received essential assistance, or encountered a changed criterion. Conversely, a failed probe may be insensitive to a useful response.

Even after that uncertainty is bounded, the useful work remains. Someone must form an application, choose how to obtain its result, realize the relevant conditions and make the method available to later performers. A causal explanation alone supplies none of these automatically. Repeating the demonstration with its original expert can conceal an unavailable intermediate capability.
