CB.2:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them
| Common wrong turn | Practical repair |
| Invite a large audience and wait for useful conversation | Arrange one relevant request and the contributions needed to answer it; expand only where the activity can still be supported. |
| Ask volunteers to “engage more” | Name a worthwhile action, the person it helps and its actual effort; make refusal informative and permissible. |
| Select helpers by visible status alone | Establish their suitability, availability and permission for the specific question. |
| Treat every answer as equally valid to maintain harmony | Compare the assumptions and domain basis; retain uncertainty or seek a qualified contribution where needed. |
| The organiser answers, prompts and follows up everything, then declares the community independent | Identify the organising contributions, retain necessary support and test a specific redistribution. |
| Count a useful discussion as successful application or learning | Obtain the relevant later observation before making the stronger claim. |
