CB.5:5.4 - Support, self-service and maintenance have different closure

A user asks how to correct a permitted configuration setting. An applicable instruction and available access let them complete the case independently. They report the resulting condition; a volunteer’s additional live session is unnecessary.

In a changed case, a community participant can explain the likely fault but cannot obtain permission to open the customer’s equipment. The result is bounded advice and a return to the responsible service provider. MNT.1 helps establish the actual unit, functioning question and permission needs. No one marks the repair complete from the advice alone.

A third case concerns obsolete advice in the shared reference. The organiser obtains the applicable corrected source, a capable reviewer and a maintainer who can replace the entry and identify affected uses. This is maintenance of knowledge content, with its own criteria, rather than permission to perform an equipment intervention.
