The contributor can understand what their work helped, and the organiser can offer a response that has real meaning and feasible terms. Less visible contributions become easier to notice. Recognition can remain small and personal.
Finding the receiving effect and providing an opportunity consume effort. A recurring award also requires criteria, correction and capacity. When those costs add little value, a truthful direct response is preferable.
