CB.8:5.3 - Protect first, then settle a disputed judgement
A member posts a screenshot containing another person’s private contact details. Under a previously established moderation rule, the on-duty moderator can hide that material immediately and preserve a restricted copy for review.
The screenshot is hidden and the affected person receives an explanation and a contact. The moderator then hears the poster’s account. It is still disputed whether the exposure was deliberate. The immediate protection is justified by the exposed information; a further sanction is decided from the applicable rule and evidence, without treating the unresolved intention as a proven fact.
If the moderator accidentally hid an accompanying technical correction as well, they restore a permitted version of that correction. The useful subject contribution and the privacy problem receive distinct outcomes.
