CB.8:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them
| Misuse | Repair |
| Treat disagreement with an organiser as a conduct breach. | Preserve the subject question and identify any separate action that actually violates a rule. |
| Add rules after every discomfort without checking their use. | Recover the practical failure and test whether clarification or a direct repair is sufficient. |
| Apply a new rule as though everyone had already accepted it. | Explain its basis and effective time; judge earlier conduct under the applicable conditions. |
| Publish the complaint in order to demonstrate transparency. | Explain the decision while restricting unnecessary case details. |
| Require the reporter to negotiate directly with the person complained about. | Offer a feasible receiving and handling route with the needed protection. |
| Place the appeal inside the space from which the person is excluded. | Supply an accessible route outside that restriction. |
| Let a conflicted moderator decide the challenge to their own action. | Obtain the authorised alternate and retain the original moderator’s account for consideration. |
| Call an announced restriction or correction complete. | Confirm the actual change and return it to the people who rely on it. |
