CB.9:5.2 - When a voluntary contribution becomes scheduled production

A professional association invites members to contribute examples when they wish. A new customer contract would require revised examples every Friday in a prescribed format. Before promising that service, the association separates the open contribution space from the scheduled production.

A willing qualified member accepts paid editorial work with allocated time and a replacement arrangement. Others can continue offering examples under the original voluntary terms. The customer receives only the production promise that has been provided. If the paid role cannot be filled, the association defers that contract instead of converting the contributors’ earlier enthusiasm into a weekly duty.
