EXD.1:3 - Forces
| Force | Practical tension |
| A quick answer and a consequential ambiguity | A short request may already be clear; a small clarification can also prevent a long explanation of the wrong question. |
| The subject and the recipient’s purpose | The subject constrains which answers are warranted. The recipient’s purpose selects which of those answers is useful. |
| Available knowledge and added burden | An initial attempt can reveal the missing relation, but requiring a demonstration adds work and can distract from a simple request. |
| Continuity and revision | Earlier explanation can remain correct while a changed purpose makes another question current. |
