HCD.17:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them

Anti-patternBetter move
“The standard was adopted, so the culture changed.”Separate institutional selection and publication from receiving HCD Work, the cultural predicate, later observation, and consequence.
“Everyone attended the rollout.”Treat attendance as one Work or evidence fact; test the named receiving, selection, recognition, memory, retention, or loss predicate.
“The cards were used, so the candidate Method was enacted.”Preserve candidate status and independently establish Method admission and actual enactment before using that branch.
“Capability improved, so transmission occurred.”Assess human capability and the cultural predicate separately; open causal evaluation only when the decision relies on the link.
“One team result proves field adoption.”Keep population, place, period, predicate, authority, and wider gaps visible.
“Change the carrier and see whether activity rises.”Compare credible explanations and use the named cultural predicate. Select a discriminating observation only when it can improve the receiving decision enough to warrant its feasible work.
