HCD.20:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them
| Anti-pattern | Failure | Repair |
| Cohort equals group | An enrolment number dictates every interaction. | Separate scales and derive each action’s capacity. |
| Division of labour equals learning | One member supplies the operation the others were meant to learn. | Allocate the personal contribution and a suitable later attempt. |
| Mandatory private attempt | A novice must invent an unavailable method before useful modelling. | Choose visibility and help for the actual learning purpose. |
| Observer equals spectator | A potentially useful role is either dismissed or accepted without an action. | Specify and inspect the observer’s contribution, then supply necessary personal execution. |
| Weekly-hours illusion | Adequate totals hide simultaneous demand. | Compare the live window with qualified available capacity. |
| Group discount | Reduced paid help conceals participant work and quality loss. | Compare whole burdens and the contribution actually supplied. |
| Automatic regrouping | Every difficulty triggers social disruption. | Repair the task, support or material first when that is the supported cause. |
