HCD.21:0 - Use This When

Use this pattern when a learning task needs particular people to work together, or when an existing composition no longer supplies the needed contributions. A promising match can fail because the participants cannot meet, cannot share the material or cannot understand one another’s reasons.

The governed object is the membership of a working learning group, including the conditions needed to establish contact and continue its task. Group learning is the wider practice; this pattern selects, connects and changes participants. HCD.20 compares the larger arrangement and HCD.22 constructs the task. Neither a roster nor a favourable matching score establishes an operating group.

The first useful result is a feasible proposed composition with a concrete way to establish contact, or an actual connected group with the scope of that observation stated. When no compatible composition exists, return the missing condition and an available learning alternative. Do not form a group when an adequate individual route supplies the intended contribution at lower complete burden.
