HCD.21:4.3 - Turn assignment into contact and work

Tell participants the bounded purpose, allowed material, usable channel, proposed window and expected first contribution. Obtain agreement at the granularity needed to act: a preferred weekday alone does not establish a shared time. Check whether contact was established before the task depends on it.

Distinguish four observations: an invitation was sent; the participants agreed on an occasion; an exchange occurred; the intended learning action occurred. A reply can establish the second without the third, and attendance can establish the third without the fourth. Ask only for the smallest confirmation or work result needed for the next decision; routine contact does not require surveillance of private conversation.

Provide a bounded recovery window. If one participant does not respond, offer a compatible replacement, a later exchange or an alternative that supplies the missing contribution. Establish that the alternative is actually available. Repeatedly assigning silent partners consumes the learner’s time without restoring practice. Keep the unfinished personal action visible even when the rest of the group continues.
