HCD.24:10 - Rationale
An evaluative distinction becomes useful when a learner can locate its evidence, explain the consequence and act on it. A recipient’s reasoned response completes the feedback connection. Preserving both actions makes it possible to improve the teaching without reducing the exchange to a count of comments or an apparent saving in assessor time.
