HCD.5:2 - Problem

The common shortcut is treatment by label: “deliberate practice,” “coaching,” “mastery,” “retrieval,” “interleaving,” “motivation,” or “AI tutor” is prescribed because the term sounds relevant. The label hides what the person must do differently and which observation would show that the proposed target changed.

Another shortcut chooses the activity that is easiest to provide. A lecture substitutes for missing project access, repeated calculation substitutes for causal discrimination, or a score substitutes for feedback. The intervention can be delivered successfully while the limiting contribution remains untouched.

The opposite failure is an exhaustive menu with no selection. The practitioner needs a small justified Method set, one serious alternative, and a precise return when the next step is not human development.
