HCD.9:0 - Use This When
Use this pattern when a development Method, representative task, and feasible support arrangement have been selected, and a person needs to attempt one changeable part of later Work, receive feedback that bears on that action, correct it, and try again. Use it for a safely bounded practice episode, not for accumulating nominal hours or repeating a completed exercise.
The first useful result is a focused-practice episode result: the task and intended focus, the learner’s first attempt before answer-bearing help when that distinction matters, help actually received, the observed action and result, feedback content and timing, the learner’s correction, a retry or exact unresolved difficulty, and the next practice focus. It can show changed performance in those episode conditions. It does not by itself establish independent capability, transfer, retention, or a causal effect of the programme.
The practical gain is a usable next attempt. A teacher, coach, peer, tool, or AI contribution no longer disappears into “feedback was given,” and the corrected answer does not overwrite the first response. The practitioner can preserve what was already demonstrated, focus on the actual error, and change the next case enough to test the corrected action rather than memorized wording.
Do not use HCD.9 when the task does not represent the target contribution, when required feedback or safe access is unavailable, or when the question is a stronger performance, transfer, or retention inference. Return task design to HCD.6, support to HCD.7/HCD.8, and evidence interpretation to HCD.11–HCD.13. A teacher demonstration, AI answer, attendance record, or corrected final product is not the learner’s first attempt.
