MDPE.12:0 - Use This When
Use this pattern after a rehearsal, performance, recording, class, event, practice change, or publication when a practitioner must decide what the result indicates. Use it when applause, a sensor trace, teacher approval, felt fluency, attendance, a competition score, a platform count, a review, or a style label is about to stand for all the relevant Music or Dance results.
A compact first move is:
For decision D, observe subject S under conditions C with observer or instrument W, compare it with K, and do not use the result to claim L.
For example: “To decide whether to retain this Balboa exercise, ask the partner when weight transfer became readable, align that report with video and sound, compare three articulation variants, and do not treat partner readability as evidence of whole-style recognition.”
The first useful result names the decision, the world-side subject, the indication being used, the observer or instrument, the direct observation Method, the conditions and representation, the comparison basis, the resulting judgement, and the claim that remains unsupported.
Use direct listening, movement-analysis, participant-observation, motion-capture, sensing, judging, ethnographic, corpus, historical, audience-study, or other domain Methods for their own results. Use this pattern only when several Music-or-Dance result kinds or witnesses must be kept distinct and connected to one practical decision.
Do not use this pattern when:
- the occurrence or artifact has not yet been produced or presented (
MDPE.5); - the current question is only what material was enacted or changed during Work (
MDPE.11); - one direct observation Method already returns the subject, evidence, comparison, uncertainty, and next use;
- the difficulty is a local choice among already formed options rather than obtaining evidence (
C.11); - the project must develop recognition capability (
MDPE.23) or redesign a recurring recognition-and-selection arrangement (MDPE.13); or - a general evidence, characteristic, or cultural-evolution distinction is sufficient without Music-or-Dance specialization.
