OPS.12:4.5 - Authorize, observe and revise the intervention

Make the next action clear: who may authorize it, who can perform it, what work changes, when it starts and how existing service is handled. State the protected conditions and the observable event that would require stopping, reversing or obtaining another decision. Use the operation’s existing means of communicating changes.

Choose a proportionate observation for the uncertainty that remains. Check, for example, that relief actually arrives, incident coverage obtains and the planned recovery can occur. A favorable report from one shift supports a claim about that shift and participating group. Broader continuation or causal claims need evidence appropriate to those uses.

Reopen the intervention when the demand, affected group, task, support, protection or observed burden changes. If the same problem recurs, return the failed operating-method assumption to OPS.17 or the responsible method-change work. Temporary relief can remain useful while that separate question is addressed.
