RHY.11:5.3 - Keep a continuous course while an accent crosses it

A constructed passage combines a familiar four-beat swell with an articulated accent at the third beat. The swell must continue rising until the fourth beat; the accent must not restart that course. The performer has the relevant safe instrumental technique.

Suppose separate attempts preserve the swell and place the accent correctly. In the first combined attempt, the accent causes an audible restart. Reducing the accent’s size within the already learned technique yields a second attempt in which the swell continues, the accent remains recognizable at the third beat, and the following release is retained.

Keep the second combination locally. Coincidence of attack marks would not distinguish the two results: the continuous course is the deciding relation. RHY.3 supplies a new carrier/articulation construction if no available means retains it.
