RHY.5:1 - Problem frame
Use this when a count, syllable sequence, score, diagram or recording makes one rhythmic operation easy but leaves another difficult. A learner can repeat syllables yet lose the cycle; an analyst sees a pattern’s geometric shape but cannot tell where a musician should enter; a movement score preserves contacts while losing the continuous change needed by a partner.
Start with the operation: recover an entrance, practise a phrase against a cycle, compare variants, communicate an articulation, or inspect a timing difference. The first result is a representation that supports that operation, with the reference and preparation its user needs.
Use an adequate familiar convention directly. This method becomes useful when choosing the convention changes what can be recovered or done.
