RHY.7:4.2 - Make the rhythmic reference and allowed equivalences compatible
For onset-based patterns, state the cycle or passage length, origin, direction, time unit and event convention when these affect the answer. For continuous material, retain the trajectory or envelope feature being compared and its temporal reference.
Decide which differences may be ignored. A shape comparison may identify rotations; an entry comparison must retain phase. A comparison of relative durations may divide all intervals by the cycle length; a performance comparison must still retain actual tempo. Keep a normalized representation alongside the original if both questions remain live.
Where sources use different conventions, obtain the needed RHY.6 correspondence. Distinguish a specified silence from a span whose contents were not observed. Retain any permitted ornament that can change the compared property.
