RHY.8:4.3 - Calculate the whole effect and recover omitted content

Apply the construction, then examine the relations named in the first step. For a cycle, include the transition from its last event to the next cycle’s first. For a phrase, include both its entry from preceding material and its exit. If an enlarged ending starts earlier, decide what preceding material can actually be shortened or moved.

Recover the information a chosen representation omitted before relying on it. An onset-only syllable string may not specify how long a sound continues or where silent beats lie. Obtain that duration or reference when the transformation depends on it; otherwise transform only the content the string determines. RHY.5–RHY.6 supply the representation and correspondence work.

When composing variants, calculate their combined effect. A displacement followed by a duration change need not preserve the same boundaries as the operations in the opposite order. Keep the order that yields the intended passage and explain it through the resulting positions, durations and contributions.
