RHY.8:4.4 - Establish the next warranted performance step

Check the proposed assignment of actions against known limits at the intended tempo. Include articulation, sustained contributions, cue reading and recovery for the next action. A change in notation alone cannot supply a missing constituent coordination.

Reject or alter a variant that conflicts with a relevant known constraint. If the constraint leaves several useful variants, retain their different contributions through RHY.7 and make the choice under C.11. Obtain a new observation only when it can change that choice or the reliance placed on the variant.

For a suitable trial, use a manageable passage with familiar techniques and the conditions needed to expose the question. RHY.3 checks articulation with its carrier, RHY.9 the performing arrangement, and RHY.10–RHY.11 the necessary shared reference or joint layers. When the limiting condition is an unavailable technique or capability, return it to instruction or development rather than demanding more force or speed.
