RMP.8:4.4 - Return evidence to the actual use
Lead with the current answer and what it changes for the named receiving question. Give the source or examination that supports it and the scope, uncertainty, dependence, transfer or access limit that can alter reliance.
When someone has already relied on the affected assertion, identify that actual use and provide the correction or limitation through its responsible owner and permitted route. FPF A.10.1 governs the general recovery and revalidation of affected uses; this Method supplies the research content to carry through that relation. A citation list may help locate reliance but does not prove that every citation used the changed claim.
The author of one account cannot silently replace another owner’s record. A museum editor, model maintainer or receiving practitioner may need the corrected statement and its basis before changing their own account or decision. A known consequential return is not complete merely because the source text was edited. If required communication or access is unavailable, state the unfinished return and what would enable it while retaining the completed local correction.
Respect confidentiality, source rights, participant protection and applicable community authority. Use the least disclosure that supports the receiving question. A permitted redacted account may carry the conclusion; if it omits material necessary for a requested examination, state that examination limit. Do not imply that a public reader inspected protected originals.
The receiving practice then evaluates its available actions, values, constraints and authority. Research can narrow an action’s evidential premise without selecting or authorizing that action.
