RMP.8:4.5 - Finish the answer and select further inquiry only when warranted

Finish when the identified account has the warranted retention or change and the return required by its actual use is supplied, or when a precise input or delivery limit has been returned. A broader unresolved question does not automatically hold this bounded result open.

If further inquiry could materially improve an explanation, reusable finding or receiving decision, compare the attainable contribution with its whole burden. Include preparation, access, performance, interpretation, protection, shared resources and displaced work. An attractive experiment that cannot be obtained supplies no new evidence.

Use RMP.2 for a research-design choice and RMP.6 for a relevant credibility choice. A still-needed selection prevented by a missing input differs from a completed no-new-study allocation. Preserve that distinction and the current evidence limit. A worthwhile new possibility can later reopen the choice.

A recurring failure in how research Methods are selected or performed may identify an RMP.9 or Method Engineering question. State that need at its own available owner; it neither supplies a new Method-improvement result nor prevents the present knowledge contribution from being returned.
