RMP.8:5.1 - Keep the laboratory result, withdraw the unsupported field prediction

An engineer receives a synthesis supporting a positive mean difference in seal lifetime under specified accelerated laboratory conditions. The existing model account contains three contributions:

Existing contributionSupplied criticism and revision
The fitted wear relation describes the dry laboratory material over the tested range. The supplied analysis still supports that bounded relation; retain its parameter, fit and uncertainty for that scope.
The same wear rate applies in the wet service environment. The supplied synthesis concerns dry accelerated tests and does not establish this transfer; remove the account’s claim that the research has demonstrated it. The transfer remains unresolved.
A service replacement time follows from the laboratory rate and the engineering wear limit. The calculation may remain arithmetically correct, but its service interpretation relies on the unsupported transfer. Withdraw that field prediction as an established research conclusion. The supplied engineering limit remains the engineering owner’s criterion.

The return says: “The laboratory relation remains supported in its tested range. This research does not establish the wet-service wear rate or the replacement time derived from treating that rate as unchanged.” It includes the source result and the exact missing transfer premise.

A model with separate dry and wet rates is a possible next hypothesis, not a validated replacement supplied by this criticism. A useful and obtainable field comparison can be considered through RMP.2/RMP.6. The reliability owner receives the bounded evidence and retains the maintenance decision. A short correction to the model account can complete the research return even when the operational choice still needs more input.
