HCD.26:4.2 - Compare actual work with the intention

Ask what is available now and what the next action needs. Use evidence close to the work: an unexplained step, the response to a changed condition, a missing annotation or an unresolved question. An attendance mark and a busy transcript cannot answer whether the required reasoning occurred.

Distinguish plausible causes that would change the remedy. A silent participant may be reasoning, lack an accessible channel, feel unable to challenge a supervisor or lack the subject prerequisite. Ask for the needed contribution or clarify the condition before assigning a generic participation deficit. A group can also be pursuing a better warranted question; recover its reason before restoring the old plan.

Make uncertainty usable. “We have the ratio but no account connecting it to a cause” identifies a missing step. “The group is disengaged” may merely restate an impression. If a short inspection settles that the source is unavailable, repair access. If the subject criterion is defective, return that criterion. HCD.14 supports revision from evidence when the resulting change concerns a person’s development arrangement.
