HCD.9:4.2 - Preserve the First Attempt and Actual Help
When independent action is part of the purpose, obtain and preserve the learner’s response before an answer-bearing cue, demonstration, correction, or generated solution. Record the condition, elapsed time, sources opened, tools and AI used, questions asked, prompts supplied, peer or teacher intervention, and the point at which each contribution arrived.
A supported first attempt is legitimate when support belongs to the intended task. Name it as supported. If safety or consequence requires the provider to interrupt before completion, preserve the last safe action and reason for intervention; do not manufacture an unsafe independent observation. Intended help, permitted help, available help, and help actually received remain different facts.
