MKT.6:1 - Problem frame

Use this pattern when the useful result of a proposed contribution is unclear or contested, or when an acquired product or service is not yet producing that result. The work can begin before an offer is made: the people involved must discover what is worth pursuing and what each can contribute. It also applies when changed circumstances make a previously agreed result unsuitable.

The result is an agreed, bounded useful outcome or a clearly limited contribution, connected to feasible customer and provider work, help and a way to reconsider the arrangement. A product supplied, an account activated, attendance completed and a useful result achieved are different events. This method connects them where a supported connection exists.

The intended reader knows the subject contribution and can involve the people whose goals, authority and work matter. This method does not confer competence to set another person’s life goals, provide specialist counselling or perform all the customer work. When a known customer requests a suitable ordinary contribution and its use is settled, supply that contribution; a programme of joint goal discovery would add unnecessary effort.
