MKT.6:5.1 - Three goals behind one reporting request
In a constructed case, a purchaser at Sever asks for a cheaper reporting tool, an operator wants to stop repeated entry, and a director wants dependable reporting before a meeting. The existing report is usable but preparation is laborious. The provider could sell access to a tool immediately, yet access alone would not settle which result the offer should achieve.
The participants compare three directions: retain the current tool and improve the agreed input procedure; run an assisted file-mapping trial; or commission continuous integration with the required access and support. The third promises a broader change but needs a contribution that is not available for the next cycle. The first costs less preparation but leaves repeated entry. The assisted trial can investigate whether one supported mapping removes that work for an agreed report.
They agree on a limited result for the next cycle: the operator prepares that report from approved inputs without re-entering the same mapped fields. The purchaser’s spending limit remains a constraint. The director accepts that the trial does not yet promise dependable reporting for every subsequent meeting. The operator supplies one approved sample and participates in the mapping session; the provider supplies the supported mapping and assistance. Data validity and the authority to use the sample remain separate necessary conditions.
Before the trial, the operator can explain which inputs are permitted and what the session should produce. During use, the team observes the mapping, the operator’s report preparation and the remaining manual work. Successful login is not their result. If the operator does not know how to distinguish the current approved input from an obsolete version, that precise capability needs instruction and a performance check; a general product tour would miss the difficulty.
Suppose the customer later changes the required report and no longer needs the original mapping. The team first establishes the new receiving result and whether the existing contribution can support it. More reminders to use the old mapping would not restore usefulness. If the changed request requires unavailable integration, the provider can offer another bounded contribution or help end the trial with its completed work and limits clear.
