RHY.13:2 - Problem
A familiar count, gesture or partner can supply the very reference that an independent-performance claim attributes to the learner. Changing the notation can remove duration information; changing tempo can introduce an unavailable movement. A delayed performance may differ both because time has passed and because its support has changed.
A useful probe therefore preserves the rhythmic contribution under investigation while making the changed condition and its possible consequences interpretable.
