RHY.3:5.2 - An ornament inside partnered motion
In this constructed dance case, an extra foot sound is added to a familiar partnered transition. The sound lands on the desired subdivision, but producing it halts the weight path and leaves the partner unable to continue.
Keep the unornamented transition as a reference. The dancer already knows a smaller foot articulation that does not take over the supporting contribution. Complete the constructed trial with these stipulated results at the chosen comfortable pace:
| Variant | Weight path continues | Accent is distinguishable at the intended place | Partner can perform the following transition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unornamented reference | Yes | Accent absent | Yes |
| Original added articulation | No | Yes | No |
| Familiar smaller articulation | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Retain the smaller articulation for this passage at this pace with this partner. It supplies the accent, preserves the continuing contribution and leaves the next transition possible. The original added articulation is rejected for this use even though its timing alone was correct. The unornamented transition remains an available return if a later tempo or direction defeats the combination.
These are stipulated case results, not reported observations or evidence that a named dance technique generally succeeds. In practice, obtain the corresponding joint-performance result. If no available technique preserves both contributions and continuation, keep the simpler version or obtain the missing technique.
