RHY.9:5.2 - Preserve the sound while changing cue access
A constructed ensemble passage requires a player to sustain an already learned brush motion while making an accent with the other hand. The partner needs a visible preparation cue before entering. Suppose a short rehearsal establishes the following:
| Arrangement | Sustained motion retained | Partner enters without an added pause | Following action retained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Use the occupied hand to point | No | Yes | No |
| Keep the playing actions, leave the cue obscured | Yes | No | Yes |
| Keep the playing actions and expose an existing preparatory cue by changing the partner’s position | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Retain the third arrangement for these conditions. No new gesture technique is needed. If the performance position cannot change, the same result becomes a concrete need for another accessible cue, not evidence that the partner should simply try harder.
