Qualify a research question or choose a design

The Research Method Practice DPF supplies RMP.1–RMP.9. Start here to decide whether a request needs research and to choose a criticism-bearing design or an honest stop. The following sections cover operationalization and the actual trace, claim analysis and relevant credibility work, and retaining or improving a research Method. Supplied inputs allow direct entry at the question you need to answer.

Your questionOpenWhat you can obtain
Does the request need new research, already have a sufficient answer, or require a different kind of work?RMP.1 - Decide Whether a Question Needs Research and When to StopA scoped research question; a sufficient answer from available sources; a request to the practice able to answer; or a statement of the missing input that prevents a decision.
Is the existing evidence sufficient, is a new study worth doing, or does a missing result prevent choosing?RMP.2 - Choose a Criticism-Bearing Research Design or StopAn adequate answer from existing evidence; a justified research design; a hold identifying the input that prevents selection; or a justified choice of no new study, with the unresolved claim, limits and conditions for reconsideration explicit.

The complete repertoire supplies guidance for obtaining research results, not already obtained results. If a needed field-specific result, permission or evidence is missing, name that gap and return it to its owner. A protocol or collected information alone does not establish the research result.
