ME.6 - Compare Method-Architecture Alternatives and Simultaneous Enactment Conflicts

Primary working result: a Method-architecture decision episteme that names the few decision-changing structures, their direct relations and truth statuses, materially different alternatives, moved burdens, selected or rejected synthesis, and the conditions material to its use or reconsideration. It may truthfully stop with relations among several Methods and no composite whole.

ME.6:0 - Use This When

Use this pattern when individually plausible Methods or candidate accounts could be combined or co-used in materially different ways and the receiving result depends on their composition, Work overlap or order, allocation, subject/support arrangement, descriptions, provider access, or cultural relations.

Begin with the obtaining or possible-future practice and one result at risk. Name the exact structures and relations that can change the decision. Do not call them all a graph: a mathematical graph is one possible representation only when its nodes, edges, semantics, and use are selected. In ordinary cases use the exact names—Method structure, Work structure, allocation structure, subject/support structure, description structure, or cultural relation.

The first useful result compares at least two serious syntheses and exposes both local gains and burdens moved across participants, scopes, Systems, or times. It can select one bounded trial, preserve an incumbent, request a probe, or stop with a relation-only result.

Do not repeat ME.5. If the only question is whether a named relation or Method composite is actually supported, clarify that claim through C.30 or B.1.5 and stop; there is no ME.6 comparison to complete until a materially different arrangement could change the decision. Do not invent a rival just to enter this pattern. Do not treat project, process, case, lifecycle, table, or diagram views as architecture alternatives unless their underlying proposed relations actually differ.

ME.6:0.1 - Working Distinctions

Name used hereMeaning
Method structureIdentified Methods and direct composition, specialization, family, participation, or other selected Method relations with stated truth status.
Work structureAdmitted or intended Work and direct parthood, overlap, order, result-use, or transformation relations. Work order does not by itself establish Method composition.
allocation structureResponsibility, authority, capability demand, provider dependence, shared capacity, and burden distribution relevant to the alternatives.
subject/support structureProject Systems, enabling Systems, resources, access, provider, and support relations whose configuration changes the result.
description structureEpistemes, views, schema correspondences, version relations, and losses used by the decision. Description order is not Work order.
cultural relationRecognition, transmission, selection, retention, or loss of a Method variant. A chosen project option is not cultural continuation.
simultaneous multigrain contributionWork at several grains is performed during overlapping intervals. It can include constituent and encompassing Work, the same Work enacting several Methods, or separate Work that only overlaps. Determine the relation; overlap alone neither establishes nor excludes Method composition.
genuine first–then conditionOne direct Work, result-use, transformation, evidence, configuration, or authority relation makes a later occurrence or decision depend on an earlier result or condition.
architecture alternativeA possible-future synthesis whose named relations differ materially. Until realized or independently shown to obtain, it remains proposed.

ME.6:1 - Problem Frame

The pattern considers Methods, Work, descriptions, capability, tools, variants and simultaneous contributions at several scales. Recover the subject of each project, process or case account under A.15.6 before comparing structures. Several useful structures and descriptions can be connected without sharing a subject or aligning one-for-one.

A project still needs decisions. It must choose which provisional results may be used, which Work may overlap, where authority stays, which support arrangement is acceptable, and where burden moves. The comparison must preserve the several structures while remaining small enough to act on.

ME.6:2 - Problem

A one-stack account turns Method composition, Work order, organization, capability, provider support, and description layers into one hierarchy. An account built from views treats different depictions of the same relations as different architectures. A local-optimization account celebrates faster integration while moving preparation, assurance, maintenance, or recovery burden to another Agent or interval.

The decision then asserts an obtaining architecture before its relations exist, or misses a genuine first–then guard because “everything is concurrent”.

ME.6:3 - Forces

ForceTension
Useful pluralismSeveral structures expose different conflicts, while too many views bury the choice.
Overlap and orderSimultaneous contribution can shorten feedback, while evidence, configuration, or authority may require a real order.
Local and total burdenOne participant can gain time, while another inherits peak load, access, or recovery Work.
Truth statusProposed relations are useful for design, while they cannot be reported as obtaining architecture.
Composite temptationCo-use invites a memorable whole name, while no Method whole exists without identity and obtaining relations.

ME.6:4 - Solution

Select only structures that change the decision, state their direct relations and truth statuses, compare serious syntheses on one bounded basis, and return an architecture decision with explicit realization or reconsideration conditions.

ME.6:4.1 - Pattern-Use Unfolding

  1. Bound the practice and result. State whether the account concerns obtaining practice or possible-future practice, the result at risk, configuration, situation, window, and decision authority.
  2. Load retained subjects. Bring in identified Methods, candidate accounts, and individually supported local connections. Preserve every status and unresolved condition.
  3. Select decision-changing structures. Name each Method, Work, allocation, subject/support, description, capability/provider, or cultural structure needed. Omit a structure whose possible values cannot change the choice.
  4. State relations and truth. For every load-bearing relation, record its kind, subjects, obtaining, proposed, contradicted, or unresolved status, evidence, and receiving use. Record correspondences and losses across descriptions without making them identities.
  5. Build serious alternatives. Create at least two syntheses that differ in one or more named relations. Preserve the feasible incumbent. A different view or label is not another alternative.
  6. Compare enactment and burden. At a revealing moment, explain what larger work, if any, is being performed through the actions being compared, and how its conditions constrain those actions. Distinguish that connection from separate overlapping or supporting Work; use B.1.5.EW when it is unclear. Preserve genuine first–then conditions. Compare combined peak demand, provider/access dependencies, authority, responsibility, evidence creation and loss, failure routes, and burdens moved across scopes or times.
  7. Choose without upgrading truth. Use C.11 or an applicable domain decision Method. Return the selected synthesis, rejected alternatives, accepted losses, conditions, live rivals, and any causal-use boundary. A bounded trial decision can select proposed content without asserting that its ArchitectureRelations obtain.
  8. Finish or continue from the decision. A supported decision to retain an incumbent or keep a proposal available can finish the comparison. Choose implementation or trial Work through C.11.DUA when its obtainable contribution warrants its full burden and the needed access, allocation, authority and window are available. For that selected Work, name implementation and trial separately, the observations that could support or defeat proposed relations, recovery or stop, and the condition for preserving, narrowing or reopening the decision. Carry a reconsideration condition in a later-use result where it changes reliance.

ME.6:4.2 - Record the Result

retained subjectsMethods, candidate accounts, local connections, and unchanged status.
selected structuresExact structure names, direct relations, truth statuses, correspondences, losses, and evidence.
alternativesAt least two serious syntheses and the named relations by which they differ.

continuation, where it changes the useConditions for relying on or reconsidering the decision; selected implementation or trial Work with its observations, stop and recovery.

ME.6:4.3 - What Changes in Practice

Teams stop choosing a Method stack or a preferred diagram. They choose which direct relations should hold for one result, which structures expose the conflict, and who carries the burden. Co-used Methods can remain plural; a proposed architecture can guide a trial without being reported as already real.

ME.6:5 - Archetypal Grounding

ME.6:5.1 - Cheaper Clarification: Several Methods, No Composite

In a safety-relevant release, M-HW-Verify, M-SW-Integrate, M-Supplier-Approve, and M-Release-Authorize are identified Methods. Hardware verification and software integration can contribute during overlapping intervals from differently versioned evidence. Supplier approval produces a signed result later. Release authorization uses the safety result and signed-evidence condition.

The selected structures are:

StructureDirect relation and truth
Method structureFour Methods are co-used; no methodPartOf or composite-Method relation is shown to obtain.
Work structureSome verification and integration Work may overlap; bounded Work set W-TraceAcceptReject-17 contains one human accept/reject occurrence for every AI suggestion used by the branch; signed evidence and accepted safety result are genuine first–then guards for release authorization.
description structurethe release WorkPlan carries intended dates and allocations; Method accounts carry reusable checks and guards; the case account asks whether the signed pinout meets the release evidence condition. Keep their direct subjects and needed correspondences separate. Different descriptions alone establish no architecture alternatives.
allocation structureadmitted Systems TraceReviewer-17, SafetyReviewer-17, and ReleaseDecider-17; their decision Work; covering assignments ASG-TraceReview-17, ASG-SafetyReview-17, and ASG-ReleaseDecision-17; permission PERM-TraceAcceptReject-17; and direct authorities AUTH-SafetyEvidence-17 and AUTH-ReleaseDecision-17 remain separate; shared capacity can constrain later alternatives.

ARS-EC417-RelationOnly-1 records the smaller clarification: retain the four Methods and their direct result-use, permission, and authority relations without naming a composite. The question here is only whether co-use supports a Method-whole claim. B.1.5 supplies the composition test; where an architecture claim is made, C.30 distinguishes the claimed structure from obtaining relations. No composite is established by the evidence shown, and no rival arrangement is at issue. Stop with that clarification, not a completed ME.6 comparison. A later choice about provisional supplier evidence opens the genuine alternatives in :5.3; their comparison can also end without creating a Method whole.

ME.6:5.2 - Simultaneous Multigrain Contributions with Local First–Then Relations

In a separate five-day Method Engineering case, ME-W0 is the bounded project adaptation Work. ME-W1 repertoire-recovery Work, ME-W2 candidate-account formation Work, ME-W3 description/tool-proposal Work, and ME-W4 evaluation Work are parts at the next finer grain; trial Work ME-W7 is part of ME-W4. During the same five-day interval, continuing product-engineering Work ME-W5 and repository-maintenance Work ME-W6 overlap ME-W0 but are not its parts.

The repertoire-recovery Method contributes through ME-W1, candidate-account formation through ME-W2, description/tool proposal through ME-W3, and trial/evaluation Methods through ME-W7 and ME-W4. Product-engineering and repository-maintenance Methods contribute concurrently through ME-W5 and ME-W6. These are contributions at whole-Work, part-Work, nested trial-Work, and separate overlapping-Work grains, not one level sequence.

Two case-local first–then relations remain inside that simultaneous interval: ME-W1 precedes ME-W2, and ME-W3 precedes the relevant evaluation decision in ME-W4. Temporal overlap across the other grains erases neither relation. It establishes neither a universal Method stack nor methodPartOf; a teaching tree that presents recovery before evaluation is a description view, not the Work structure.

Consider a minute inside trial Work ME-W7. The participant follows the proposed unit-review description, converts a supplied measurement and compares it with the stated tolerance. Performing that comparison is part of carrying out the trial; the trial is part of evaluating the proposed description in ME-W4; that evaluation is part of the project adaptation ME-W0 currently under way. The encompassing evaluation and adaptation are ongoing through this performed action, although their conclusions have not yet been reached. This is a constituent connection, not an inference from the five-day overlap.

The evaluation purpose changes how the trial is performed. If the purpose is to test whether a reader can recover a conversion rule from the description, supplying the rule as a spoken prompt would defeat that use. If the purpose is instead to measure supported execution after instruction, the same prompt may be appropriate. The arithmetic can be correct in both cases while one trial fails its encompassing purpose. Keep the participant’s result, the help actually supplied and the evaluation conclusion distinct. B.1.5.EW recovers this connection; B.1.5.RS applies when replacing a shared trial or checking Method across differently intended evaluations.

ME.6:5.3 - Possible-Future Alternatives: A, B, and B2

The EC-417 release scenario later asks how to handle provisional supplier evidence. Three alternatives differ by Work order and allocation:

For this constructed comparison, 2.07 h is safety-engineer time for traceability and safety-closure work: checking the current requirement–implementation–verification correspondences and preparing or recording the closure disposition. It excludes the separately counted signed-delta preparation and 0.33 h board, and any additional affected verification or integration rework.

AlternativeWork and allocation structureCapacity and consequence
Await for signed evidence before software integration; one final boardprospective pre-entry alternative; under baseline signed evidence at D-8, misses the D-21 integration slot
Bintegrate from an explicitly versioned provisional edition at D-21, preserve that basis and uncertainty, and reconcile it to signed evidence at D-8; safety engineer performs all 2.00 h signed-delta preparationon the D-8 peak day: 2.00 + 0.33 + 2.07 = 4.40 h, or 0.55 of an eight-hour day; exceeds the 0.40 limit
B2same Work order and evidence-history rule as B; supplier-configuration role performs 1.60 h of preparation and safety performs 0.40 hon D-8: 0.40 + 0.33 + 2.07 = 2.80 h, or 0.35; the separate D-21 board makes per-release safety burden 3.13 h rather than B’s 4.73 h

The first 20-minute board is on D-21; the second is on D-8. They occur on different days. The peak-day comparison and per-release burden are separate measures. Each board remains below the 45-minute meeting limit. Under B or B2, signed evidence supersedes the provisional edition only for safety-closure reliance; the provisional edition, uncertainty, use in D-21 integration Work, and relation and delta to the signed evidence remain traceable.

CUR-EC417-CadenceEffect-1 returns unsupported for the interventional claim that earlier reconciliation reduces reopenings. AD-EC417-B2-Trial-1 therefore consumes no positive causal premise. It consumes separately named non-causal DC-EC417-CadenceMismatch-1, the capacity comparison, confidentiality, the covering trace/safety/release assignments, PERM-TraceAcceptReject-17, the two independently supported direct authority relations, and reversibility to choose only three bounded B2 trials.

At the D-21 pre-entry checkpoint, ReleaseDecider-17 performs the branch decision under ASG-ReleaseDecision-17 and AUTH-ReleaseDecision-17, after the required safety-evidence decision under ASG-SafetyReview-17 and AUTH-SafetyEvidence-17. B2 entry also requires TraceReviewer-17 to perform W-TraceAcceptReject-17 under ASG-TraceReview-17 and PERM-TraceAcceptReject-17 for every AI suggestion used by the branch.

Before entry, choose A when signed evidence is already available or when versioned provisional evidence, supplier preparation, confidentiality, the trace-review assignment or permission, or a safety/release assignment or authority condition for B2 is absent. Once early B2 integration has occurred, A is no longer a possible history for that release.

Missing signed evidence at D-8 withholds release and starts recovery R. Preserve the performed integration record, exact provisional edition, uncertainty, and earlier use. When signed evidence arrives, record its relation and delta to the provisional edition, re-baseline, and repeat the comparison and affected verification. Retain or roll back/repeat early integration. For a full repeat of these recovery tasks, count 1.60 h supplier preparation plus 2.80 h safety preparation, board, and trace/closure work (0.40 + 0.33 + 2.07). Count affected verification or integration rework in addition; the case supplies no fixed duration for it. If recovery stops before those tasks finish, record the Work and burden that actually occurred rather than assigning the full repeat cost. Move only to the next authorized slot after repeated decision Work under the covering assignments and authority relations. Every repeated AI suggestion again requires the trace-review Work, assignment, and permission. Signed evidence supersedes provisional evidence for closure reliance without erasing the provisional history.

The architecture decision remains prospective. Implementation and the three trial releases are later Work. If signed evidence becomes available at D-21, sensitivity selects A prospectively; it does not rewrite a past B2 release.

In that pre-entry variant, suppose the existing signed-first arrangement has adequate current capability, capacity and release evidence, and the same comparison reveals no useful gain from provisional-first preparation. The team can finish by retaining A on that basis. Planning an extra B2 trial would consume the safety attention needed for the current release without changing this decision. Changed evidence timing or capacity can reopen the comparison. The baseline case still has a thirteen-day mismatch and supports the three bounded B2 trials under their stated conditions.

ME.6:7 - Conformance Checklist

  • The result names one obtaining or possible-future practice, receiving result, and decision boundary.
  • Every Method and candidate account keeps its prior status.
  • Every selected structure can change the decision and is named by its actual structure or relation kind.
  • Architecture alternatives differ in their underlying proposed relations, not merely in viewpoint or representation format.
  • Method composition, Method unfolding, Work parthood, Work overlap, first–then guards, allocation, support, description, and cultural relations remain separate.
  • At least two serious alternatives differ in named relations and include the feasible incumbent when applicable.
  • Combined capacity, covering assignments, permission, authority, provider/access, evidence, failure routes, and moved burdens are visible where material.
  • Causal-use results are consumed only within their verdict boundary.
  • A possible-future decision asserts no obtaining ArchitectureRelation.
  • The comparison may end with the choice supported by the evidence. Any selected implementation or trial Work has a worthwhile obtainable contribution, feasible conditions, observations, stop and recovery; a later-use result carries the reconsideration condition material to reliance.

ME.6:8 - Common Anti-Patterns and How to Avoid Them

Anti-patternRepair
“All methods are layers in one stack.”Select and name the actual Method, Work, allocation, support, description, and cultural structures.
“These two diagrams are alternatives.”Compare the underlying relation sets; if they are the same, keep them as views.
“Work overlaps, so the Methods compose.”State Work overlap and require independent Method identity and composition evidence.
“B2 saves 1.60 hours.”Name the role and interval from which burden leaves and the role or interval that receives it.
“The trial choice proves the architecture.”Keep proposed relations, decision, trial Work, observations, and later obtaining claims distinct.
“Recovery means switching to the earlier alternative.”Preserve already-performed Work and define a separate post-entry recovery branch.

ME.6:9 - Consequences

Architecture choices become precise enough to implement and reconsider without forcing one universal decomposition. Genuine guards survive concurrency, co-use survives without a fictitious composite, and moved burden is visible before local optimization is accepted.

The cost is explicit recovery of several structures and their truth statuses. Some attractive alternatives will remain only proposed, and a clean relation-only stop may be more truthful than a new Method whole.

ME.6:10 - Rationale

Method organization, dated Work, subject arrangement, allocation, descriptions, provider support and cultural continuation answer different questions. Treating them as isomorphic loses either useful simultaneous contribution or real dependency. Select the structures that can change the decision and compare their relations in the receiving case.

Project, process and case views provide a practical test: when several views concern the same Work, their labels do not create architecture alternatives. The alternatives begin where proposed direct relations differ.

ME.6:12 - Relations

  • ME.5 supplies individually qualified Methods/accounts and whole-independent local connections; it supplies no whole compatibility result.
  • A.22, C.30, C.32.MWA, and B.1.5 govern selected structures, architecture truth, several-structure synthesis, and Method composition.
  • C.11 or the applicable domain decision Method governs the bounded choice; C.28 governs any causal conclusion consumed.
  • ME.7 resolves one proposed Method whole. A relation-only ME.6 result may stop without entering ME.7.
  • ME.19 may supply a differentiation account and separate causal-use result. ME.6 consumes only the causal reliance allowed by its verdict and keeps its own decision authority.

ME.6.MC develops the mathematical comparison when an arrangement’s combined consequences are not already clear. It constructs the operations, retained information and shared-resource constraints needed to derive a property or counterexample. ME.25 instead constructs a changed way of working from a mathematical transformation; use it when the comparison returns a design question.
